NC Raga Revival

NC Raga Revival is a biweekly concert series showcasing the Music the South Asian Diaspora and collaborations with other World Music artists. These concerts are family friendly, no shoes, and no booze.

Smitha Prasad

     Smitha K. Prasad is a US based Carnatic classical vocalist. A senior disciple of renowned musician and musicologist, Vidushi T.S. Vasanthamadhavi, Smitha regularly performs in the US and in India. Apart from traditional concert performances at a number of venues, she has presented lecture-demonstrations at universities, county libraries, the US Department of Justice.  She has presented jugalbandhi concerts with Hindusthani musicians, led choir presentations and composes and sings music for dance performances.    Smitha has been named a 2013 Regional Artist by the United Arts Council in North Carolina. She is the first Carnatic musician to have achieved this distinction. As  an initiative of the Regional Artist Project Grant, she has released a CD of traditional Carnatic music compositions.
